Community Grief Circle

Grief does not follow a calendar. This is a quiet, held space for anyone who needs it — whether your loss is recent, long ago, or still ahead.

Grief asks to be witnessed. This is a circle — not a therapy group, not a lecture — where people gather to share, listen, and simply be present with one another in what is often the loneliest kind of pain.

Who this is for

Anyone carrying grief is welcome here. You do not need to be a current Eternal Life Hospice family, and you do not need to have lost someone recently. The grief circle holds space for:

What to expect

Our hospice social worker and chaplain facilitate the circle. There is no agenda, no curriculum, and no requirement to speak. Some people share. Some sit quietly and listen. Both are welcome. The session runs ninety minutes with space at the end for quieter conversation.

You do not need to be in crisis to come. The grief circle is not an emergency resource — it is a regular, gentle gathering. If you are in acute emotional distress, please call us directly at 805.953.7273 and we will connect you with the right support.

A note on confidentiality

What is shared in the circle stays in the circle. Participants are asked to respect one another's privacy and to hold what they hear with care. Our facilitators observe professional confidentiality within the limits required by law.

Coming for the first time

An RSVP is not required, but it helps us prepare seating and know how many to expect. If this is your first time, you are welcome to arrive a few minutes early — our team will be there to welcome you, answer any questions, and help you feel at ease before the circle begins.

You are welcome here

RSVP by phone or email — or simply come. This event is free and open to anyone in the community.
